Instagram is back with another string of epic updates that you need to know about. Just a few hours ago, Adam Mosseri (Head of Instagram) announced four powerful new features to help creators and brands succeed on Instagram.

Interestingly, Instagram has labeled these features as ‘specifically built for creators’. Once again, we’re seeing Instagram shift its focus towards prioritizing creators and working towards its big-picture vision of supporting a sustainable creator economy.

Along with the launch of NFTs and the trial of a new immersive full-screen experience, it’s clear that the future of Instagram is geared towards individuals and creators who want to earn an income through their content. However, there are still plenty of ways that brands and businesses can harness these latest Instagram updates.

Let’s kick off with the first exciting announcement: you can now Pin Reels and Posts onto your Instagram profile.

New feature: pin posts or Reels to your Instagram Profile

The first update Instagram has announced is a new profile pinning feature. Essentially, you can now choose up to three posts or Reels to pin to the top of your profile.

These pinned posts will sit at the top of your Instagram grid to give you more control over the appearance of your own Instagram profile. It’s not just images that can be pinned to your profile: Instagram Reels can also be pinned to the top of your profile, too.

This update is specifically geared towards creators and is designed to give them more flexibility over their profile grid. The good news? All Instagram users will be given access to this feature globally from today.

This feature is all about giving you more control over your control and what posts users first see when they land on your account. If you want to promote a new product launch, highlight a recent blog post or showcase a recent award win, you can do so by pinning these posts to the top of your profile.

How to pin posts to your Instagram Profile

Ready to start using this exciting new feature? Here’s a step-by-step guide to pinning posts to the top of your Instagram profile:

  1. Open up the Instagram app and head to your profile.
  2. Tap on a post your want to pin and tap the three dots on the top right-hand corner.
  3. Select ‘Pin to your profile’.
  4. Now, when you navigate back to your profile you should see a small ‘pin’ icon over this post.

At this stage, you can pin up to three posts to the top row of your profile.
