Verified

Verified means that the social media account holder has had their identity authenticated by the platform.

What Does “Verify” Mean?

The term “verify” in this context means that the social media platform has authenticated the identity of the account holder. This verification process helps users distinguish genuine accounts from imposters or fan accounts.

How to Get Verified on Instagram

There are two main ways to acquire a verified badge on Instagram:

  • Meta Verified (previously known as Instagram verification): This subscription service allows eligible users to pay for verification. However, it’s currently not available in all regions.
  • Apply for Verification (free): Instagram also offers a free application process for accounts that meet their specific criteria. This process considers factors like:
    • Account authenticity: The account must represent a real person, registered business, or entity.
    • Uniqueness: The account should be the unique presence for the person or business it represents.
    • Completeness: Public profiles with a bio, profile picture, and consistent activity are more likely to be considered.
    • Notability: The account should represent a well-known and highly searched-for public figure, celebrity, or brand.

What is Meta Verified?

Meta Verified, previously known as Instagram verification, is a subscription service offered by Meta (Instagram’s parent company) that allows eligible users to acquire a verified badge. This service comes with additional benefits like:

  • Priority customer support
  • Account monitoring for increased protection against impersonation
  • Ability to showcase a verified badge across other Meta platforms like Facebook

Important Notes About Verification

  • Not a guarantee of popularity: A verified badge doesn’t necessarily indicate an account’s popularity. It simply signifies that the platform has confirmed the account’s authenticity.
  • Beware of scams: There are no shortcuts or guaranteed methods to get verified. Third-party services promising verification are likely scams.
  • Focus on quality content: The best way to potentially get noticed for verification is to consistently create high-quality content and build a genuine following.
